I suppose with the high incidence of rain and the rapidly sinking sun, rainbows are more prevalent than we're used to. Still, it's nice not to let that get in the way of the wonder... This was an early evening rainbow-- just minutes before the sun went down altogether-- our extended dry spell was broken by rain for only a few minutes (though Lynn was headed out for a birthday celebration and managed to get caught in it). The kids were ready for bed, obviously, but in high spirits and enjoying the odd ambient light, which emerges as a sort of fiery orange background and muted rainbow colors. The rainbow was actually quite bright, with the second bow just faintly visible, but not showing in the photo. We got smiles from passersby while I positioned the kids to hold the rainbow in their hands...
